We provide standard, industry specific and bespoke courses on a range of fundamental and advanced control engineering topics.
We can adapt individual courses to suit your company's industry/business.(Examples)
ISC was initially contracted to assess the performance attainable for a hydraulically actuated gangway, when compensating against boat motions. This involved modelling the various sources of errors - from sensing, actuation and control performance - to achieve the target performance whilst minimising cost and complexity. ISC were then engaged to implement the entire control system, which included MMI using touch panel computers, real-time control and I/O, solving kinematics, and extensive monitoring and safety logic.
Full factory testing and Sea Trials were completed. The system was installed and on active service.
ISC developed the control system for a very large pair of Gripper Arms for the jack-up vessel MPI Discovery, used to install the foundation piles for offshore wind turbines. Early simulations were used to assess the hydraulic and control designs prior to the main software development. Since this was for a working boat minimising commissioning time was critical, ISC developed a software-based emulator to allow the software to be fully tested before the mechanical build was available. It has also helped validate minor software revisions now that the system is in-service. This project was awarded the Application of the Year prize by National Instruments at their Graphical System Design Achievement Awards 2013.
